SKILLZ STRIPES OF THE WEEK
On Monday and Tuesday, students will have a shot at earning their GREEN stripe:
Early Skillz – Kicking
Basic Skillz – Kicks
Kids/Teens/Adults – Kicks
From Wednesday through Friday, students will have a shot at earning their BLUE stripe:
Early Skillz – Punching
Basic Skillz – Teamwork
Kids/Teens/Adults – Technique
Students in our kids and teen/adult classes will also have the chance to earn their purple/rainbow stripe and black stripe daily. To earn their purple stripe, students need to perform half of their form without assistance in order to earn their purple stripe. They can earn a rainbow stripe when they can perform their entire form without assistance. Beginning Wednesday, we will take the students through their form without any instruction to determine whether or not they earn their purple or rainbow stripe. Students who cannot do their form without assistance or instruction during the form review will not be able to earn their stripe that day. However, beginning on Wednesday, students have a shot at earning their purple and rainbow stripes daily in class up to testing.
Forms for the testing cycle

Kids/Teens/Adults Intermediates – Yul-Guk
Kids/Teens/Adults Advanced – Choong-Moo

Families with students in both times may choose to attend one or the other with all of their children.
Students can wear regular street clothes. Moms, be sure to wear your active gear – cause you’ll be competing with the other moms to show who is the toughest mother!
SUMMER VACATION FREEZES
Just a friendly reminder of our membership freeze policy for those of you planning on going away for more than a month this summer.
“Ft. Bend Taekwondo (FBTKD) will allow training sessions to be made up that have been missed because of illness, accident, travel and emergencies for a minimum of one month and a maximum of three months. FBTKD management must be notified via completion of a Freeze Request Form, or as soon as reasonably possible, given the circumstances of the absence. FBTKD freezes time, not payments. Payments will continue on a monthly basis until the expiration of the membership. The unused portion of time will be made after the membership expiration.”
If you are planning to freeze your membership, please be sure to stop by the front desk to complete our freeze paperwork.
A FRIENDLY REMINDER…
The days are finally warmer! And that means its time for our friendly reminders on student hygiene:
- Please be sure to wash your feet prior to coming to class. Our noses thank you.
- Please remember to wear shoes into the school. Bare feet in the parking lot and sidewalk pick up a LOT of things on the way in, which then make their way to our mats.
- Please remember that no child is too young for deodorant. 🙂
- Please remember that gear CAN and should be washed. Elbow pads and cloth shin guards can be thrown in the washing machine, but not the dryer. Mouthpieces can get a quick soak in mouthwash. All other gear can be wiped down with a Clorox wipe or be given a dip in a tub of water and mild detergent (dish soap works well)
SNACKS NOW AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE
We now have snacks and Gatorade available for purchase at the front desk! All purchases are cash only. Please be sure to pick up after yourselves when enjoying your snacks.
MAY PATHS TO MASTERY – SELF DISCIPLINE AND BURPEES
We’re working on self- discipline and burpees this month for our paths to mastery! We’ll be talking about what it means to have self-discipline and what some examples of this are for our character path. Our physical path is to do the number of burpees for the day of the month – so, for May 6, 6 burpees need to be completed.
We have an at-home worksheet for students to complete to earn a small reward for their work! You can find the worksheet at the front desk.
