Thank you to all of the students who participated in our in-school tournament this weekend. I had a blast, and I hope you did, too! SKILLS STRIPE FOR THE WEEK

Monday and Tuesday, students will have a shot at earning their GREEN stripe:

Skillz program – Kicks

Taekwondo program – Kicks

Wednesday through Friday, students will have a shot at earning their BLUE stripe:

Skillz program – Teamwork

Taekwondo program – Technique

White through Orange Belt Taekwondo students can earn their black stripe now until the last day of classes before testing when they’ve memorized and can perform, without assistance or instruction, their assigned one-steps. Senior Orange belts and higher ranks can earn their black stripe once they show us their proficiency in sparring. Students are expected to be proficient for their belt rank.

Students must have their black stripe in order to test in April.

Students in our taekwondo program can earn their purple stripe once they know half of their form and can perform it without any assistance or instruction. They can earn their rainbow stripe once they can do the same for their entire form. Students can earn their purple stripe or rainbow stripe now until the last class before testing. Students MUST have their RAINBOW stripe in order to test in April.

4 year olds and select students – white belt one-steps

5 and 6 year olds – Chon-Ji

Taekwondo Program

White Belts – Ki-Bon

Yellow and Orange Belts – Dan-Gun

Intermediate Students (senior orange – senior purple belts) – Do-San

Advanced Students (blue – senior red belts) – Joong-Gun

Black Belts

1st Degree Probationary and Recommended – Gwan-Gae

1st Degree Decided – Po-Eun

1st Degree Senior – Gae-Baek

2nd Degree – Choong-Jang

2nd Decided – Yoo-Sin

2nd Senior – Ul-Ji

3rd Degree – Yon-Gae

SPRING BREAK WEEK = SPECIAL SESSIONS AND AN ALTERED CLASS SCHEDULE

Spring break week is next week! We’ve dreamed up something pretty cool for those of you who will be sticking around – our plan is to make everyone going on vacation jealous of you!

From Monday, March 11 through Friday, March 15, we’ll be running a daily special session. Each day’s session(s) will feature a different skill or learning opportunity. Wednesday’s special sessions will allow you to bring a buddy to class!

All special sessions are FREE to attend. Our Bo staff, Target training, and Re-Breakable Board training will require equipment. If you have the equipment already you’ll just bring it to the session with you. If you need the equipment, you’ll need to purchase BY MARCH 4 to insure on-time delivery of the item for use during the session.

We’re asking you to please sign up for any special session you want to attend – whether it’s just one or all five – by March 8 so we can plan accordingly.

SKILLZ WEDNESDAY CLASS TIME HAS CHANGED

Our Skillz Wednesday class will now run from 5 to 5:30p effective this Wednesday! This is the only schedule change for the program. There are NO schedule changes for our taekwondo classes.

TAEKWONDO AMERICA FALL NATIONAL TOURNAMENT TO BE HELD AT DISNEY’S SWAN AND DOLPHIN HOTEL IN ORLANDO, FL

Taekwondo America has announced that our fall national tournament will be held INSIDE Disney’s Swan and Dolphin Hotel in Orlando, FL! What?!?

The fall national tournament takes place September 20 – 21.

Testing for the black belt ranks of 3rd degree and higher will take place Friday at 1 p.m.

Competition for third degree and higher ranked black belts will take place beginning at 5:30p on Friday.

Competition for all other tournament attendees, including Skillz students through 2nd degree senior black belts, will take place on Saturday, September 21. The entire tournament will run from 9a – 2p on Saturday, with specific competitions times announced the Thursday, September 18.

Competitors need to only attend their specific competition time and are free to enjoy all Orlando has to offer outside of their competition time!
