WEEKLY UPDATE – MARCH 31
SKILLS STRIPE FOR THE WEEK
REVIEW WEEK
This week is review week! We’ll be reviewing our testing procedures each day in our taekwondo classes. We will review for any missing stripes for students who want to test next week.
Please note that we can effectively review for 2 stripes in class, and we determine what we review during our warm-ups as we determine who needs what stripe.
Students who are missing multiple stripes are strongly encouraged to attend classes three times this week and also attend our testing readiness clinic this Saturday (see below for more information).
TESTING REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS WEDNESDAY
Students who plan on testing next week must register for testing by Wednesday, April 3. ALL STUDENTS WHO PLAN TO TEST MUST REGISTER.
All students must have 6 stripes on their belts to test. Students in our kids and teen/adult classes MUST have their rainbow stripe as one of these 6 stripes.
Students testing for black belts must test on testing day, and not either make-up testing. Students are to wear full formal uniform: jacket, pants, & belts. White t-shirts should be worn under jacket.
All orange belts & higher must bring all gear to testing.
Students & all spectators are expected to be exhibit the tenets of TaeKwonDo during testing. Failure to do so will result in removal from the premises. Students who arrive late forfeit their right to test.
Testings are divided by your CURRENT belt rank/age group – not what you’re testing for!
You will need to complete one form per student. If you need to change the time of your testing, please be sure to contact us directly, and not re-do the form.
You can ONLY REGISTER online. Please click this link to register – and do it ASAP – the deadline to register is Wednesday, April 3: http://bit.ly/FBTKDAprilTesting
IT’S OUR 9-YEAR ANNIVERSARY – AND WE’RE CELEBRATING WITH THEMED CLASS DAYS
April 1 is our 9-Year Anniversary!!! We’ll be celebrating ALL WEEK with themed classes.
Here’s how this works: Much like red-ribbon week at school, each day will have a theme in which students can choose to “dress out” or participate in. Please remember, though, that we will still be running regular class activities including testing review – so you’ll need to be able to do taekwondo in whatever you wear for the day.
Here’s the themes for each day:
Monday – Cake for everyone!! No dress out for this day, but everyone will get a piece of cake!
Tuesday – Light it Up Blue – In addition to it being our anniversary, April 2 is Light it Up Blue day for autism awareness. Students can wear any blue shirt to class today. Bonus points if its a blue tkd shirt! Students will still need to wear their taekwondo pants.
Wednesday – Super Hero Day. Time to dress like your favorite super hero!
Thursday – Crazy hair day – Remember that orange belts and higher ranks will still need to wear their helmet when we spar.
Friday – Pajama Day – Yeah, I know our uniforms are sort of like pajamas – but today you get to wear your actual pajamas to class.
BE SURE YOU’RE READY TO TEST WITH OUR READINESS CLINIC SATURDAY, APRIL 6
Make sure you’re ready for testing with our testing readiness clinic!
Saturday, April 6 from 10 to 11 a.m.
This clinic is open to all taekwondo students who are planning to test at our April testing. We’ll go over techniques for your forms and one-steps, sparring, and practice board breaking on the bags and targets. THIS IS NOT TESTING – it’s an extra clinic to be sure you’re ready for testing.
Students who only need 1 or 2 stripes are strongly encouraged to attend this clinic so they have a shot at being able to test next week.
Be sure to bring your sparring gear and wear your belt, along with TKD pants and uniform. Register at the front desk, on our mobile app, or online here: http://bit.ly/GetReadyToTest
