For the week of July 29 – August 2
IT’S REVIEW WEEK
The week before we hold testing for new belt ranks is review week!
Taekwondo students will practice for testing each day in class this week. We will explain how testing works and practice so that students know what to expect for testing next week.
We also review skills stripes for both taekwondo and Skillz students who still need to earn a stripe in order to be able to test next week.
While we do our best to hit every missing stripe in class, it is very difficult to do more than 2 stripes per class. During warm-ups, we will look to see who needs what stripe and determine what we work on in class that day then. In other words – if you still need a stripe, please be sure to be on time to class so we know you need it. Students who arrive during or after the warm-up may not be able to earn a needed stripe that day.
Students will test next week in their full white uniforms. We suggest coming to class during review week in full white uniform one time so students will be fully prepared. Students may not be used to wearing their full uniform, and sometimes, it can challenge their sensory processing if they wait to wear it for the first time in a long time at testing.
Students who need a thorough review of their form and/or one-steps to be ready for testing are strongly encouraged to sign up for the last session of our summer mini-sessions. The last session focuses on testing and tournament readiness. Students can sign up for this session here:

TESTING REGISTRATION IS TUESDAY!
To register for testing, please go online here: http://fortbendtkd.news/0819TestRegister
Please note that you MUST register online – we do not take registrations at the front desk.
Remember:
-All students must have 6 stripes on their belt to test. Students in our kids and teen/adult classes MUST have their rainbow stripe as one of these 6 stripes. Students in Basic Skillz do NOT need a rainbow stripe, but still need 6 stripes in order to test.
-Students testing for black belts must test on testing day, and not either make-up testing. Students are to wear full formal uniform: jacket, pants, & belts. White t-shirts should be worn under jacket.
-All orange belts & higher must bring all gear to testing.
-Students & all spectators are expected to be exhibit the tenets of TaeKwonDo during testing. Failure to do so will result in removal from the premises. Students who arrive late forfeit their right to test.
-Testings are divided by your CURRENT belt rank/age group – not what you’re testing for!
-You will need to complete one registration form for student testing.
If you’re new to our belt rank testings, please be sure to watch this video that explains the process: https://vimeo.com/348630159/c78cd61dc9
If you have any questions, be sure to let us know!
PLEASE REMEMBER THERE ARE NO CLASSES THE WEEK OF TESTING (AUGUST 5 – 9).
PLEASE BE MINDFUL WHEN PARKING IN THE FRONT OF THE SCHOOL
If you park in front of the building when coming to classes, you know that the parking spaces are extremely narrow. We’ve always had issues with cars being parked too close to one another due to the narrow spots. And, we continue to have issues where there are instances where it’s difficult to open the doors of your car wide enough to allow you to comfortably get in it.
We’re asking everyone to please be mindful of this when parking and when getting in and out of your cars. We know its not ideal. We’ve tried and tried and tried to get it corrected, but the property owners are less than helpful.
Remember, you can ALWAYS find a spot in the back of the school if you feel the need to find a larger space. You’ll need to turn right as you enter the property, and carefully (i.e. slowly) go around the building to park in these as they are situated diagonally for you to pull in and out of.
You can also park along the fence straight in the back of the school too – although you probably want to watch for animals. We occasionally see turtles, frogs, wolf spiders, and snakes thanks to our proximity to the bayou.
Thanks so much for showing your courtesy and continuing to do so outside the school.
