Fort Bend TaeKwonDo Policies
Thank you for being a part of the Fort Bend TaeKwonDo family! Here are a few things we need both students and their families to follow to ensure the best experience for everyone.
Fort Bend TaeKwonDo School Rules for all:
Try Hard.
Be Safe.
Treat others the way you want to be treated.
Have fun!
1. Students may not be dropped off more than 10 minutes before their class starts or picked up more than 10 minutes after class ends. We will contact the police for any student who is not picked up 20 minutes after their class ends. Students may not wait for parents outside of the school. We strongly suggest parents who are dropping off and picking up do so at the back of the school where it is easier for all of us to see when you arrive.
2. Students are REQUIRED to wear their uniforms in class unless otherwise noted. Our uniforms consist of:
-White jacket and white pants
-Fort Bend TKD or Taekwondo America T-shirt and white pants
-Fort Bend TKD or Taekwondo America T-shirt and Fort Bend TKD or Taekwondo America pants
-White Jacket and Fort Bend TKD or Taekwondo America pants
Orange belts and above are required to have their gear bag with them at the start of class. All sparring gear should fit properly and not have any tears, splits or cracks in it as its a safety issue. ALL sparring gear should be worn (this includes the cup and supporter for the boys, no matter how much they hate it.)
3. Any student who does not have the required uniform will not be allowed out onto the floor for class.
4. Students will not be allowed out onto the floor if they are more than 10 minutes late to class, regardless of the reason. This means students must be ON THE MATS within 10 minutes after the class start time.
5. Students should wear shoes INTO the school so as to not bring in whatever may be out in the parking lot and sidewalks.
6. Students are required to keep their toe and fingernails neat and trimmed, maintain good hygiene including wearing deodorant, and keeping hair up and out of the face.
7. Only students and instructors may be on the workout floor unless an instructor asks a parent/caregiver out onto the floor during classes.
8. Students – not parents or caregivers – should put their shoes, socks, coats, and sweatshirts/sweaters neatly in one cubby before coming out onto the floor.
9. Students should have clean feet. This may mean washing your feet prior to coming to class and changing into a new, non-sweaty pair of socks.
10. Students under the age of six years old MUST always have a guardian present IN OUR LOBBY.
11. Students under the age of six years old MUST have a guardian go into the restroom with them.
12. Children between the ages of six and eight years old must have a guardian on-site. This could be in the car or walking the perimeter of our facility while the child is in class.
13. We strongly encourage guardians of children between the ages of six and eight years old to escort them into the bathroom.
14. Should any child be found to cause any type of damage to the facility, including putting paper towels down into the toilet, all repair and service fees will be passed along to the child’s guardian.
15. Students who are having trouble focusing in class will be dismissed from class for the day.
16. Once a student is out on the floor, they may not leave class without permission from an instructor or until class is dismissed.
Parent, Caregiver, Siblings and Guest Rules
-Children not in class, siblings, friends/family and guests must remain in the lobby AND be supervised by an adult at all times.
-Do not call out to students or instructors on the mats. We know you want to encourage your child while on the floor, however, it is distracting to your child, the instructors, and other participants. If your child cries, the instructors will deal with the issue. We can usually do so fairly quickly when parents don’t get involved. If we can’t get your child over the issue, we will bring them out to the lobby to you.
-Do not instruct your child while they are in class. (If you’re that interested in instructing, please see Mrs. Chapman and she’ll get you a uniform so you can attend class, learn how and what we teach, and train you to become an instructor.)
-Do not allow children to practice their forms, run, chase each other, throw things, climb onto or stand on our furniture, stand on the arm rest of the viewing wall, or bang on the viewing wall windows.
-Keep your voice to an “indoor voice” level while in the lobby.
-Take phone calls outside of the school
-Escort children under the age of 8 or who need assistance into the bathroom
-Keep our lobby and restrooms clean and neat
-Let us know if any supplies need to be restocked in the restrooms
-Do not sit or stand in or block the doorways of the workout floor. You are welcome to view classes from a seat at the viewing wall.
-Parents, caregivers, siblings guests and students who damage our facility will be liable for payment of any and all repairs.
–BE SUPPORTIVE! Students will mess up, and we will correct them. What happens on the mat, stays on the mat. If we need your help, we will consult with you. Otherwise, all they need is continual support and encouragement!
